Our Name

The place name, Balsam Moon, presented by Doug, seemed to capture the heart and nature of what they each bring in partnership with earth, spirit, people and thus was accepted by them in December 2019.  Doug is a “tree” guy, especially the Balsam Fir, having planted a variety of over 6,000 trees on this land and managing healthy forestry skills in using the resources provided through the trees in building and heating this place.  Barb loves the Moon in all its phases and cycles and that sense of feminine spirit it represents.  The name honors a bit of each of them along with earth, spirit, people.  In searching the symbolic meaning of the place name, they learned Balsam Fir symbolically represents gifts of healing and celebrating a season of generosity. Trees have long held symbolic meaning around the world as being mystical, majestic beings, symbols of endurance, emitting energies of acceptance, grace, wisdom, transformation, and liberation. The Moon is symbolic of emotions and feminine energy, cycles and natural rhythms, intuition, mystery, enlightenment, balance, change, eternity.

What a gift in a name!  We are grateful!
